Domestic abuse support services
Lochaber Women’s Aid operates a Women’s support service and a Children and Young Person’s service. Both of these services offer practical and emotional domestic abuse support. Alongside these services, we operate a prevention and awareness service which aims to facilitate a better understanding and awareness of domestic abuse within our community
What is domestic abuse?
Misconceptions often associate domestic abuse with physical violence, but domestic abuse is often much more than that. For many women and children who live with an abuser, their scars are not visible. Domestic abuse is a pattern of ongoing controlling behaviour that seeks to gain power and control over another person.
How you can help
While government funding enables us to fund our basic core running costs, this does not always cover all the work we want to do. We rely on donations to provide activities and resources for the women, children and young people on our service. Every donation makes a real difference to the support they receive.
