Community, Conversations and Support.
June has been another busy month at Lochaber Women’s Aid as we continued supporting women, children and young people across Lochaber.
This month, we attended the Work and Wellbeing Event at Caol Community Centre. It was a great opportunity to meet people from the local community, chat about the support we provide and help raise awareness of domestic abuse. We always welcome opportunities to get out into the community, so if you are organising an event and would like us to attend, please get in touch.
During June, we supported 68 women and 28 children and young people. Support looked different for everyone and included help with safety, housing, finances, benefits, confidence, emotional wellbeing and reducing isolation. No two situations are the same, which is why support is always tailored to the individual.
One thing we have been talking about in the office this month is wellbeing. Looking after ourselves can sometimes fall to the bottom of the list when life gets busy, but taking time to recharge is important. As a team, we attended a sound bath together, giving ourselves the chance to switch off for a while and take a break from the day-to-day pressures of work.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support Lochaber Women’s Aid. Whether you share our posts, attend events, signpost someone to our service or simply help spread awareness, it all makes a difference.
If you would like to find out more about what we do, invite us to a community event or access support, we would be happy to hear from you.
