CYP Storyplay Training

Our Children and Young Person’s (CYP) support workers have been undertaking training with Licketyspit, Scotland’s national early years theatre and drama-led play specialists. Licketyspit are collaborating with Scottish Women’s Aid affiliated groups to deliver Women’s Aid Stroyplay Scotland, an in-depth training programme in the Storyplay approach.

Licketyspit

Licketyspit’s vision is that child-centred, inclusive theatre and drama-led play becomes an integral part of children’s daily lives. They believe that theatre and drama can empower children, increase their capacity to flourish and support their wellbeing. Licketyspit’s drama-led play approach is called storyplay and is built on the synergy between actors and children as play experts. Their projects aim to be easy and fun for everyone to play, allowing participants to unlock their imaginations and become their fullest selves. The approach is underpinned by children’s rights, a commitment to equality and a belief that everyone is creative!

CYP Training

Through completion of this training programme, our CYP support workers can use this approach in their work with mothers, children and young people recovering from domestic abuse. They will offer a children’s rights-based approach to social interaction and relationship building through structured, joyful, imaginary play. Our team will facilitate a wide range of Storyplay activities, including group imaginary play, games, rhymes, songs and reflective drawing, for group work with children and mothers, together or separately.
