Lochaber Women's Aid Walking Group

Walking is more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it’s a pathway to health, happiness, and connection. For women seeking a simple yet effective way to boost their well-being, joining the Lochaber Women’s Aid Walking Group was an excellent choice.

Over the last six months, our walking group has embraced a variety of enriching experiences. From exploring local trails to learning about the power of plants during our foraging walk. We’ve enjoyed discovering the natural world around us.

One of our highlights was a special walk in conjunction with the Glencoe Folk Museum, where we learned about the rich history of Glencoe while taking in its stunning mountainous views.

Walking is known for its physical benefits, including improved cardiovascular health, strengthened bones and muscles, and better weight management. It’s a low-impact exercise that suits women of all fitness levels and ages. However, the advantages extend beyond physical health. Our group provided a supportive environment where women could socialise, share past experiences, and build lasting friendships.

Additionally, walking in nature has a calming effect, reducing stress and enhancing mental clarity. It offers a wonderful chance to disconnect from daily pressures and enjoy the simple pleasure of movement while connecting with others.

So lace up your walking shoes and get out and try it!
