INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2024
On Friday, March 8th, we commemorated International Women’s Day with a special event. We invited staff, board members, service users, and partner agencies to join us for a coffee morning, accompanied by a screening of a presentation by Myra Ross – trainer for the Violence Against Women and Girls Partnership.
During her presentation, Myra shed light on the persistent challenges associated with understanding domestic abuse and coercive control. She introduced us to an innovative training model she employs called “The Spider in the Glass,” which captivated and informed all attendees.
In the lead-up to International Women’s Day, Lochaber Women’s Aid organised a book drop initiative. We left parcels of books throughout our local community, for women and children to find. This year’s theme of inclusion inspired us to ensure that women and children in Lochaber had access to books for enjoyment and learning. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many recipients expressing how the gesture brightened their day.
Our International Women’s Day celebrations were not only about recognising the achievements and struggles of women worldwide but also about fostering a sense of community and empowerment right here in Lochaber. We’re grateful to everyone who participated and contributed to making the day memorable and impactful.
